Video – Blog
In my first video I describe the concept of the project “Kiel 1242”
Dissertation on the preservation of the Bremen cog
The dissertation on the preservation of the Bremen cog was already published in 2023.
The entire work is provided as a free PDF download.
Thinking outside the box – What’s wrong?
The “oldest Kiel pension book” describes legal transactions, deeds and other events from the period from 1300 to 1487.
It is no longer freely accessible in the city archive and there is no digital copy.
Outside the box – Telemann’s House 1576
The house was built in 1576 at Hassstraße 1 in Kiel and destroyed by an air raid in 1941.
Parts of the façade were recovered and can now be seen in the Warleberger Hof Museum and the State Museum.
A visit to the antiquarian bookshop
The analogue visit to an antiquarian bookshop always holds surprises and sometimes provides more sources than digital research.
Docu 5.1 – Bugs and Solutions
There is neither error-free software nor hardware.
However, it is helpful to know why something is not working and – ideally – how to eliminate this error.
In the documentation you will hopefully find the right way under Bugs and Solutions.
Documentation 4 – Workflow and Software
qGIS, Unity, Blender, Substance Painter, iClone, Character Creator, AI and much more help to make “Kiel1242” an immersive VR experience.
In this article, I give a good overview of which programs I work with.
Documentary 3 – The Program
In the course of the project, technical concepts were tested and discarded.
Meta Quest 3 currently serves as the basis for an immersive VR application that will allow visitors to explore Kiel’s old town until the end of 2024.
By 2025, interactive learning modules and historical reconstructions are to be added, which are available in several languages.
Docu 2.6 – Fact check Middle Ages
Inspired by the video blog “Geschichtsfenster”, I will also provide some facts – especially if they are related to Kiel.
Docu 2.5 – Historical events in Kiel
A brief overview of the historical events in and around Kiel – or that have a direct impact on the citizens of the city. The breakdown of events from the Kiel Charter Book also provides a basis for the existence of buildings.
